Dear Student,
Congratulations on your acceptance to Colby, and welcome to our community! As you’ll discover over the summer, Colby has many programs, offices, and communities dedicated to supporting your success. We’re excited to invite you to consider joining FLI@Colby, our program for first-generation-to-college and/or limited-income students!
Since 2019, the FLI@Colby Program for First-Generation and Limited Income (FLI) Student Success has been dedicated to supporting FLI students. Our goal is to create a great community, offer resources to help you through college, and empower you to make the most of your time here.
If you’d like to learn more about what we do or want to sign up, just click the button below to fill out the interest form.

Event Highlights
Off Campus Trips
We understand that for many FLI students, attending college is the first time living away from home, and coming to Colby might mean being far from family. FLI@Colby offers several off-campus trips throughout the year, giving students the chance to explore Maine, bond with each other, and potentially create a second home within the Colby or Maine community. Join our program mailing list to receive invitations to visit places like Freeport, Portland, Bar Harbor, and more!
Student Conferences
Joining the FLI@Colby community means connecting not just with peers at Colby, but also with a vast network of first-gen and limited-income students from across the country. We participate in conferences like the First Gen Summit, held every November, where we connect with students, faculty, staff, and alumni from other schools who want to celebrate the FLI community and support student success.
FLI Program Info Session
Join us on June 13 at 7:00 PM on Zoom for the first FLI Program info session! This session is a chance to learn more about the FLI Program, ask questions, and hear about the support, resources, and community available to first-generation and/or low-income students at Colby.
We will talk about what the program offers, what students can expect, and how FLI can help you navigate your transition to college. You are welcome to come with any questions related to the FLI Program, student life, campus resources, or anything else you are wondering about.
The session will be recorded, so if you are unable to attend live, you will still be able to watch it later.
Email FLI@colby.edu to get in touch with one of our team members. We would love to get to know you and to answer any questions or tell you more about the program!
