Liberal Arts (Academic) Advisors Are Live!
What is a Liberal Arts Advisor? This person is your go-to academic resource during your first-year. Each student has a liberal arts advisor to guide them through the add/drop period, help with course selection and course registration, and answer any questions you may have about how academics work at Colby. Not sure you should be on that waitlist still? Check in with your liberal arts advisor. Thinking of swapping out courses? They can guide you on that too! Not sure how to turn your favorite hobby into a major? A liberal arts advisor can point you in the right direction.
You can find your advisor by navigating to your Workday Academics Dashboard and clicking "Important Contacts Support Network," or check out these instructions. Your advisor will stay with you throughout your first year. (Once you've declared a major during your sophomore year, you'll be assigned an academic advisor within your academic department).
Now's a great time to reach out to your new advisor with questions, set up a time to meet, or just say hi!

Accessing Accommodations
What Are Accommodations & Do I Need Them?
At Colby, the Office of Student Access and Disability Studies (ADS) ensures that all students, no matter their disability, have equal access to academics, programs, and the full Colby experience. Academic accommodations are adjustments to instruction, policies, or the learning environments that reduce barriers without changing the essential learning goals of a course or experience. They aren't about giving you a free pass, they're about leveling the playing field.
No two experiences of disability are the same. That's why Colby uses a barrier-based model: ADS identifies what is blocking your access, not what is "wrong" with you. There are many types of accommodations, including academic, housing, dining, and injury support. College accommodations are different from high school in that you must self-advocate and notify the institution to receive them and your professors to implement them.
If you need accommodations at Colby, you can visit the ADS website to set up your accommodations profile and upload required documentation from a professional source. If you think you may qualify for accommodations but are unsure, you can email the office at accommodations@colby.edu for more information.
What Sports Do You Want To See On Campus?
Here is a link to an important student survey regarding athletics participation and interest. The purpose of the survey is to collect data to evaluate the athletic interests and abilities of students at Colby. Your input will help ensure that Colby provides opportunities for recreational, intramural, club, and intercollegiate athletics participation that are consistent with our mission and values and meet Title IX requirements.
While this survey is not anonymous, your individual responses will be confidential to those reviewing the survey internally at the College. Any institution-wide or public information generated from the survey will only be reported in the aggregate (without personally identifiable data) unless otherwise authorized by you.
You will be asked questions pertaining to your participation in sports in high school, college, and any potential future opportunities. Your responses do not obligate you in any way regarding participation in sports. Please note that the listing of a sport in this survey does not mean that the sport is or will be offered by the College. Finally, you will have the opportunity to provide additional comments or other feedback
This survey should only take 10 minutes or less. Your participation is very important. To begin the survey please enter your Colby e-mail when prompted.
Thank you for your time in supporting this important initiative. If you have questions about this process, you may contact me.
