Members of Colby Club Sailing enjoy a variety of opportunities that promote personal growth, skill development, and community engagement. Membership includes access to recreational sailing opportunities throughout the academic year, as well as instruction and hands-on training for sailors of all experience levels, from beginners to advanced. Beginners are provided with dedicated opportunities to learn the fundamentals of sailing in a supportive and welcoming environment. Members have the opportunity to develop their sailing, seamanship, leadership, teamwork, and water safety skills while participating in organized practices and events. For those interested in competition, the club offers the chance to participate in intercollegiate regattas and other competitive sailing events. Members also have access to club equipment and resources, including team lifts in the varsity gym, club-owned CFJs, boats at SailMaine during the spring season, and regatta registration. In addition, members become part of a welcoming and inclusive community where they can build friendships, connect with fellow students, and share a passion for sailing. The club also offers social events, clinics, and weekly chalk talks that provide an opportunity to discuss sailing techniques and develop sailing knowledge off the water. Through these experiences, members have the chance to explore Maine's lakes and waterways while fostering an appreciation for the outdoors and environmental stewardship.
