Volunteering with CCHP
The Colby Community Health Program would be nothing without its amazing volunteers. In this section, you can learn more about what's expected of them.
The Colby Community Health Program is a collaboration between the Colby College Office of Civic Engagement & Community Partnerships and the Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter. Our mission is to address local health disparities by fostering health literacy, reducing barriers to care, and combating stigma by creating a space for meaningful connections between Colby students and the shelter community. It is important to note that the Colby Community Health Program is not a club.

The program is open to new and returning volunteers! Returning volunteers should note that they will need to reapply to be part of CCHP again.
Volunteers should allot around 5-10 hours for preparation over a 2-3 week period, in addition to a 1-2 hour session at the Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter. Volunteers will also be expected to attend a Saturday training session.
The Colby Community Health Program receives hundreds of applications for a limited number of spots each semester. So make sure your application has answers that are unique and specific to your experience.
